Child
A story is told that, long ago in a crowded plaza, scholars debated Mosaic Law. Jesus, when asked about a particular point of law, answered wisely. Then a cry, from not far away … a child lost in the crowd. Another question arose among the scholars and they looked for Jesus, but Jesus was kneeling before the child. Jesus spoke quietly to the child, lifted the child into his arms and looked about for the child’s mother. Jesus hummed … the child quieted … Jesus hummed a lullaby … a lullaby his mother hummed long ago … on a cold winter’s night, somewhere near Bethlehem.
